New to the collection: Arne Lindqvist's 1946 trail map
The earliest map in the collection is a single sheet, drawn in ink by Arne Lindqvist in the winter of 1946 and copied by blueprint for the Harlow Ski Club. The club sold the copies at the warming hut for a nickel.
It shows how small the hill was after the war: three trails (Lindqvist Run, Big Dipper and the new Schoolmarm), a rope tow that stopped halfway up, and a dotted climbing track to the summit for anyone with the legs for it. The warming hut is a single square at the bottom of the sheet.
Put it next to the 1965 trail map and the 1988 trail map to watch the mountain fill up with chairlifts, trails and lights. See the 1946 map in the collection.
