Field at Dusk

Title
Field at Dusk
Description
Lind painted the field behind her Harlow studio at the same hour for a whole autumn. The bands are less a horizon than a temperature: warm ground, the rust of last light, and the blue that arrives before the stars.

Mara Lind in her studio, about 1975. A black and white photograph from the mid 1970s of a woman painter in her late forties with short grey-streaked hair and a work shirt, standing in a barn studio on a farm beside a large unfinished canvas of soft horizontal bands of color, holding a wide brush, daylight from a big open barn door.Mara Lind
