Under the Lights, 1970–1983
Forty lamps, a second chairlift and a trail that earned its own button.
Night skiing filled the hill four evenings a week, and Joan Pike's psychedelic poster for it was the most stolen poster in Harlow. In 1971 the Prospector chair opened North Knob, with Last Chance and the Tincup Chute, the hill's only double-black run.
The Tincup Cup grew into a giant slalom sponsored by Harlow Feed & Supply. Lena Ruiz won it in 1976 and 1979 and joined the ski patrol at nineteen. Skiers who survived the Chute could buy a button that said so.

“The Chute was the only run where you could hear yourself breathe.”
