The Lodge and the Lizzie, 1952–1962

In 1952 a new company built a lodge, a T-bar and a reason to stay all day.

The Tincup Lodge Corporation, formed by Harlow businesses in 1951, opened the lodge in December 1952. Ingrid Lindqvist ran its kitchen, and her fifteen-cent cinnamon rolls stayed on the menu for the next forty years. The Tin Lizzie T-bar, named for its tin-roofed drive shed, carried skiers 2,100 feet up the mountain.

In 1958 the club ran the first Tincup Cup, a slalom on Big Dipper with forty-one racers from three towns. Postcards sold at the drugstore and the lodge carried the hill's name across the state.
