Rainbow Fox
Foxes are orange but I wanted mine to be every color so he would be the happiest fox in the world. He is jumping over a puddle so his feet don't get wet. I mixed the purple all by myself. -
Dino Dentist
This is a T. rex at the dentist. He has fifty teeth and the dentist has to count all of them. He is not scared. Actually he is a little bit scared. (Theo told this to his dad, who wrote it down.) -
The Tallest Giraffe in the World
I needed more paper because her neck kept going and going. Ms. Dana gave me tape. She is eating a cloud because all the leaves were too low for her. Her name is Stretch. -
Our Whole Street
I drew every house on Larch Street from my house to the corner. Mrs. Okafor's house is the one with the blue door and the cat in the window. It took me three weeks. There are 14 mailboxes and I drew all of them. -
Night Swim
This is Harlow Lake at night when we went camping in July. The water was so dark it looked like it went down forever, but the moon made a path across it. I sprinkled salt on the wet paint to make the stars, which is a trick I learned from a library video. I'm most proud of the reflection. -
Self-Portrait with Freckles
I counted my freckles in a mirror and there are 41 that I could see, so I drew 41. My hair really is that orange. My little brother said it looks exactly like me, which is the nicest thing he has ever said. -
My Grandma's Garden
My grandma grows tomatoes and sunflowers and purple flowers called cosmos. I used black paper because that's what her garden looks like at night when the fireflies come out. The yellow dots are fireflies. They are not mistakes. -
Dewey Dreams of Fish
Dewey is the library cat. He sleeps on the book return cart every afternoon. I think he dreams that he is a book, and in his dream bubble he is a book about fish, which is his favorite kind. -
Sir Hops-a-Lot
He is a frog but he is also a knight. His crown fell off two times so I glued it. He likes eating flies and fighting dragons, but only little dragons. -
Turtle Parade
This is a mom turtle and her two babies walking to the ocean. I made the patterns on the shells with a toothpick. The littlest one is the slowest, like me in the morning. -
The Octopus Who Lost a Sock
Octopuses have eight arms so they need eight socks. This one only has seven, which is why he looks worried. I made his worried eyebrows with a paperclip. The socks are clay except the striped one, which is a real sock from my baby cousin. I asked first. -
Snip the Hedgehog
I made the spikes by snipping the clay with little scissors over and over, about a million times (really about 300). He's curled up a little because he's shy. If you crouch down and look under him, he has a tiny pink nose. -
Bubbles the Blue Whale
A real blue whale is as long as three school buses. Mine is as long as my arm from my elbow to my fingers. That's the biggest I could make before the clay ran out. Her name is Bubbles. -
Pancake the Chicken
This is Pancake. She is our real chicken. She lays brown eggs. I gave her big eyes so she can find worms. (Rosie told this to Ms. Dana at the library.) -
Fish Bowl Plate
It's a fish bowl but the plate is the ocean. The green fish is the boss of the other fish. I used a lot of glitter. My mom said that's enough glitter, and then I used a little more. -
City at Night, Window by Window
The library was giving away old magazines, so I took a whole stack. Every window in these buildings is a tiny piece of someone's photo: faces, food, flowers, the ocean. There's one window that's just a dog. I'm not going to tell you where. It took 23 hours, and I kept track. -
Leaf Bird
I collected all of these leaves on walks with my dad. The wing is made of eleven aspen leaves. The eye is a sunflower seed. Some of the leaves turned brown after I glued them, but my dad says that's just what nature does. -
Dish Robot 3000
This robot does the dishes so nobody has to. His buttons are real buttons. The red one makes him dance. I'm going to build a real one when I'm eight. -
Tincup Mountain from Our Porch
This is Tincup Mountain from our back porch. My grandpa says there used to be a ski hill on it, and in winter you can still see the stripe where the chairlift went, so I put the stripe in. I tore the paper instead of cutting it because mountains don't have straight edges. -
Captain Biscuit vs. the Vacuum
My dog Biscuit is scared of the vacuum in real life, but in my comic he's a superhero and he wins. The vacuum is the bad guy because it's so loud. Panel 3 is my favorite because of the BOOM. -
The Book That Ate the Library
It's a horror comic, but funny horror. An overdue book gets so hungry it eats the whole library, and the librarian has to read it a bedtime story so it falls asleep. The moral is: please return your books on time. -
Space Lunch
Astronauts can't eat crumbly food because the crumbs float away and get in the machines. In my comic an astronaut eats a sandwich anyway and the crumbs turn into a brand-new galaxy. That part isn't true. But it could be. -
Snail Mail
The mail carrier is a snail and it takes him three years to deliver one letter. When he finally gets there, the card says Happy 7th Birthday, but the kid is 10 now. I got the idea when my birthday card from Aunt Jo came really late. -
Lemonade Stand Disaster
Me and my brother had a lemonade stand and a bee drank most of it. This is a true story except the bee wasn't really wearing a hat.
